Hi guys, it’s time to sell my beloved MR2 i’m afraid. This is actually my wifes car and we’ve owned it for around 3 years now and done 20k in it, mainly commuting to work and weekends away.

A couple of light scratches here and there but not keyed, just normal use.
Small parking dent only visible in certain light near fuel cap and rear arch.
Passengar sideskirts needs respraying, again this will be done very soon and included in the sale.
Passengar seat has two small burn marks from a soldering iron when I was wiring in a sub out wire (oops).

The engine still pulls really strong and managed to get 147BHP on a dyno begining of last year. The suspension and steering is super tight and responsive and very grippy. Softop is in excellent condition with no rips or tears, hardtop is perfect except one small stone chip. Overall a solid little roadster perfect for the summer days or giving it some beans in some twisty roads/track. Get’s a lot of attention.

Honestly i’m not entirely sure how to introduce this blog. The iPhone 4S is finally unveilled in true Apple fashion.

I’ve been thinking, after spending the last 14+ months with my iPhone 4 what could they possibly do to make it better? Well the answer is here. I’m not going to bother writing a lot about it and instead let this video do the talking.

Siri – Voice recognition looks extremely powerful. But will it flop a bit like FaceTime? Will it actually work? Big questions to answer there. But it does look really impressive and very similar to the technology provided by Qwiki.

Dual Core A5 chip – Now if there was improvement the iPhone 4 could do with it’s power. yes it’s a powerful device already, but since getting an iPad 2 it’s clear that there is a lot more punch required to make the iPhone something else. I do find some feezing and crashing of apps and with the number of network connected apps I have on the go I have noticed the battery and processing speed somewhat what reduced from when i first purchased the device. This is a worthy upgrade and will certainly put the Android devices out there to shame in terms of battery life.

New 8Mp camera – Ok that’s cool. I’m finding i’m using my iPhone 4 for a lot of videos and pics and a better lens will definately help for those iMovie productions

iCloud – And finally iCloud, seems that cloud computing has come along way and this is going to be the future of sharing and storing information. But until 4G becomes available in the Uk I question its accessibility for now.

iOS5 looks to be a revolutionary upgrade to all existing IOS devices and will be most welcome by most customers I feel. All that’s left for me is to get out of my contract ASAP and pick up an iPhone 4S – watch this space.

Well I couldn’t resist – as soon as I heard about Facebook Timeline I simply just had to have it.

Most of Facebook’s latest updates i’ve absolutely hated with a passion – but Timeline is quite simply something else. It’s revolutionary and has seemlessly provided a much richer social experience. I personally get the feeling that Timeline is what Facebook was always meant to be from the begining.

The Timeline itself is all about documenting your life online and once it rolls out to everyone (12th october 2011) it will provide a much better user experience for everyone. Some will hate it, but I think this is possibly one of the best updates by far from Facebook.

Users now have quick access to Geo tagged photos, view lists of friends and page likes, track conversations within the timeline and easily update your status. But most significantly is now users can design their pages with a more personal touch. The large header image with thumbnail and personal details convey all the essentials in a logical manner. Simply it’s more engaging, easier to use and has made Facebook fun again.

If you’re impatient like me you too can have the Facebook Timeline ahead of it’s official launch – all you have to do it follow these simple instructions:

1. Log into Facebook

2. Enable developer mode, if you haven’t already. To do this, type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result (it should be an app made by Facebook with a few hundred thousand users), and add the app.

3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)

4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.

5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page

6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.

Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”

7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings

8. Wait 2-3 minutes

9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page

And you’re done! We’ve seen this work quite a few times now, so it should work without a hitch for just about anyone.

It is time for me to depart from my Altezza. I have loved every minute with this car but it is time for me to now move on i’m afraid. This is my Toyota Altezza RS200 imported in 1999 with the yamaha Beams engine (brake through engine advanced management system) which produces around 210bhp RWD.

This is a brilliant car, drives great and mechanically perfect, totally solid and has never let me down. Comes with adjustable seats, traction control, fog lights, air conditioning/climate control (in perfect condition), electric windows, electric folding side mirrors, tinted rear windows and great condition throughout. Very comfy, and has a good amount of grunt for motorway driving, cruising or drifting. 92,000ish miles (or less) 67,000ish were done in japan…car is very clean throughout and bodywork is in top condition, polishes up very well and always looks great.

Regularly serviced and well maintained throughout. I usually get around 320miles on a full tank which is not bad for this sort of car. Wheels are currently getting re-painted to bring them back to their original shine and it will be fully valeted for the buyer. Brand new 12 months MOT and 1 months tax currently. (Will chuck in 6 months tax upon negotiation) – looking for £4200 ono.

Update: >>> Brand new OEM lower ball joint & repair to exhaust, salied through MOT, tyres all in good condition <<<

Modifications:

If I remember anything else I’ll put it up. I have loads of photos and the car can be seen on various forums – checkout Tezzaworld for more details about this car.

Bad bits: It’s only fair to say that there are minor stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper and a small chip on the front right wing. There are also some lacquer marks where the spolier was removed in Japan, this can easily be re-painted or even carbon vinyl’d as i’ve often considered. These are purely cosmetic and are very minor, so minor it’s difficult to photograph properly.

Please feel to call and leave a message if i don’t answer, evenings and weekends best.

No tyre kickers please, only genuine interest and will consider sensible offers.

I have to admit it, I don’t use comparison sites that much when buying insurance. I usually get a few rough ideas then call the specialists. Maybe that’s down to my choice of cars but either way something deep down in my sub conscious restricts me from buying through the aggregators.

Since working in the Insurance industry for the last 9 months though has really opened my perceptions up as to their purpose and value to a) customers and b) the Insurance providers.

From an insurance perspective a commission or fixed rate is paid to the aggregator based on a sale. This is ok so long as the customer keeps the policy and becomes a loyal customer, something which is quite hard to achieve these days, especially with so many comparison sites available. There in lies a problem, it’s a catch 22 for the insurance company. They pay the aggregator and 12months down the line the customer goes back to the comparison site to try again, potentially the the insurer could pay out again for the same customer. Don’t get me wrong though the premium usually covers this very nicely but it’s just one of those backwards scenarios and the people that win the most are the comparison sites.

But that’s not the main purpose of this post, what i’d like to draw attention to is the latest Compare the Market campaign where the customer, after purchase, can register at meerkovo.co.uk to receive a cuddly Meerkat toy. The UK market has gone crazy for this as the brand has developed it’s meerkat connection. Working for an pet insurance provider we have certainly felt the affects of this latest marketing campaign.

But why would anyone be interested in a toy? Oh but it’s so much more than a toy its a customer experience, prolonging the wait and involving the customer so that when they come to renewal Compare the Market are the first to be remembered.

The user experience comes in the form of a subdomain website dedicated to the meerkats and the toys. After completing the form the user is presented with a personalised video message from the meerkats (see below). The next clever bit is a meerkat toy tracker which will track your toy all over the world before it arrives. This is accompanied by regular emails engaging the user further and with more funny little videos.

Could this be a clever marketing ploy to maintain demand by delaying delivery, which also gives CTM additional security? I think so, but it doesn’t really matter and it’s funny that in any other industry customers would be complaining that their free gift hasn’t arrived blah blah blah, but with the meerkats it’s almost just as entertaining seeing your toy’s journey throughout europe which only heightens the element of suprise when it does finally arrive. Maybe delivery scam is a bit of strong term to use, but does it even really matter? Meh! I don’t mind if it takes 4 weeks to arrive so long as i’m getting entertained. Simple

I’ve just purchased home insurance so i’ll let you know when it arrives i’ll also keep updates as to where it is currently as it ventures to the UK.

This 8pp A5 newsletter for Animal Friends was designed and produced using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign CS5. My work includes the creative for the various digital artwork, web page and interactive flash version ready for population. 20,000 copies have been produced and are distributed to new policy holders. The digital version was sent out to a further 40,000+ existing customers.

The main features of this newsletter are to convey the charity work Animal Friends does for animal welfare as well as the new Million Pound Challenge with Cracker (Boxer Dog) and Girlie (Tabby cat) and finally the new social aspect of the company.
