Without doubt one of the most anticipated games of 2012 is Halo 4, which I do find funny considering they said they wouldn’t make another Halo game, but then that was back in the Bungie days and quite frankly i’m glad someone decided to get some balls and continue the epic story of John Sparton 117 a.k.a. Master Chief…I mean you can’t just leave Halo 3 with a cliff hangar like that and not expect someone to pick up the pieces.
With the pending launch the ‘Forward Unto Dawn‘ pre-launch web series takes a view at the training that the potential ODST students undertake and to becoming marines. What makes this series unique however is that each Friday a new episode is released building up to the finale with the launch of the game itself. So far three episodes have been released illustrating already a just how captivating the storyline is it’s got the Halo community and the rest of the web talking.
Following the adventures of select individuals within a small platoon the series is remarkably well scripted featuring elements such as the fabled Warthogs that we’ve seen in the previous games and the space elevator which transports marines to the ships. At the end of the last episode we got to see some real action at last where the covenant have started attacking the base and the recruits have been throw into the think of it…we even get to see the silhouette of a covenant Elite and his light sword…so geeky, but totally cool.
Here’s the official spiel:
In 2525, as mankind has begun to colonise space, a group of cadets are training to fight against human insurrectionists. One of these cadets, Thomas Lasky, has doubts about his abilities as a soldier and his convictions for this war. Whilst he struggles with himself, the planet is invaded by an unknown alien race. Reeling under the assault, Lasky and his squad mates are rescued by John-117, one of the UNSC’s legendary SPARTAN-II super-soldiers. John must inspire Lasky to fulfill his potential as a soldier and a leader to fight against an enemy deadlier than any that humanity has faced before. Written by Marty Goodman
This series effectively sits between Halo 2 and Halo ODST when John-117 arrives from installation 05 on board the Prophet of Truth. But we’ll just have to see what the next episode holds for us this Friday. I’ll be embedding each episode as it’s released below.
